Members of Legal Aid Society visited Tihar Jail to conduct a survey ascertaining whether juveniles were lodged in the jail or not. This initiative was taken in association with National Commission for Protection of Child Rights and Delhi Legal Services Authority under the order dated 8/2/2012 and 21/3/2012 of the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi in writ petition (civil) 8889 of 2011.
For this purpose, members of Legal Aid Society volunteered for the cause and interacted with the jail inmates and gathered the relevant information on the above stated issue. Volunteers were segregated in different groups guided by various judges ,lawyers and social activists, led by Mr. Binod K. Sahu , Registrar of NCPCR .
This whole experience proved to be an add on academically as it provided exposure to the volunteers as they were able to gain an insight of the functioning of the jail .
