Hoping against the hope

No religious, moral or even legal obligations compelled our government to take the responsibility of providing the basic amenities to every individual to feel dignified even after the apex court’s decisions and directions.

People of our nation after giving to themselves the Constitution may have thought that the government will give them a life which could have been an unfulfilled dream in colonial era.

For the person of common prudence, it is worthless to mention that the govt. is not only Constitutionally obliged but also with so many independent legislations, international treaties and the supposed highest form of law,i.e., law of morality and law of humanity; to provide basic amenities to individual for their basic development for making invaluable contribution to a society.

Looking at the seriousness of the govt. on this issue since independence; it seems that to expect this is just hoping against the hope.

An instance, which is an eye-opener for every human being happened on 10th Sep ’11.

Day -1

‘Megha’, a girl of merely 8 years was roaming alone in one of the most vulnerable parts of Delhi, i.e., I.S.B.T., kashmere gate; with fear and worries on her face in the late hours of the night.
Fortunately, the girl was sighted wondering on the road by Ms.Shikha Kambhoj (who happened to be a teacher co-ordinator, legal aid society, CLC)

She stopped the girl and enquired about her whereabouts. Somehow she managed to know her name and area; where she resides.

Ms. Shikha without any delay called P.C.R.; subsequently with the assistance of judicial officer and police authorities; the girl was sent to her home which was located in Patrachar Slum Area (Timarpur).

Ironically, the police authorities took the matter seriously and went ahead to do what was required at that crucial moment.

Day -2

A team of Legal Aid Society, C.L.C.; comprising of
Radhika, Usha, Chetna, Sreemithun, Shikhar,, Dhananjay ,Sumit; under the direction and supervision of Dr.Raman Mittal was sent to Police Station, Timarpur to know the status of the destitute girl.

Subsequently, the team accompanied with police constable visited the home of the girl.

When the team asked why you left the home late night?????
She replied-
‘She went out to attend call of nature’, from there she was lured by an unidentified and mischievous lady. Then, that lady took the destitute teen with her and left her alone on the road.

Thankfully, everything has been taken care of by the legal aid society and with a pledge to assure the bright and safe future of the girl.
Also, we thank the police authorities and judicial officer for their unparallel co-operation.

From the time immemorial, the govt. is escaping from it’s duties and obligations, moreover, it is high time that govt. should respond until it is too late for the govt. to retrieve from it’s inaction towards ‘HAVENOTS’, which is the bulk of our nation.

  1. first of all i would like to appreciate miss shikha kambhoj ji, who stopped at night for the poor girl and enquired about her and managed to send her back to her place, this is a common problem of people like that, it can only be solved by providing free education to them though we have free education scheme in India but how much it's being implemented properly that can only be seen in slums of delhi and other states easily.Even in this so called "modern society" people are not willing to educate their daughters as they says " agar padh likh jayegi to ghar ka kaam nahi karege , shadi mein bhi to dahej dena padega". only bringing schemes like this is not sufficient,it should be implemented at the core level and for this NGO'S should come forward and try to change the orthodox psychology of their parents, otherwise this problem is not going to solve in the future.
