Project- Northeast

The northeast of India has consistently been plagued by problems of infiltration and insurgency. The existence of over 60 different armed groups in the area attest to the fact that there is something fundamentally wrong. The cause may be the lack of a political will to take appropriate action or it may lie in the fact that the people involved are taking unfair advantage of the underdeveloped state of the region. The answer can only be derived if one makes a close study of the facts involved. Taking just one side of the story is not enough. One must take into account the views of all the different parties involved to draw a definite conclusion. However, we cannot overlook the fact that whatever be the cause, in the end it is the common people who pay the price in this struggle.

Almost every two years a new group of armed rebels come into existence. These groups mostly consist of individuals who are dissatisfied with the way their life is running and thus form a confused and twisted outlook of justice. Each group that comes up has their own problems and their own agenda. The common man who relates to these problems is given hope that maybe now they would get a solution to their problems. However as time changes the agenda and methods of these parties mutate and become something completely different and irrelevant to the actual cause, leaving the general public hanging.

Students from the North-eastern states of India have taken an initiative to identify the problems and find the solutions amidst the larger objective to improve the grave situation of the Northeast. Those students who would like to be a part of this mission and contribute to this cause can mail at clc.legalaidsociety@gmail.com
