Cellular Phone Towers: Cause of ill-Health

These days a lot of concern looming around us about the effect of cell towers on human health. So, keeping in mind, I have tried to brought the issue through this article.

Cellular phone towers have two kinds of effects thermal and non-thermal. Thermal effect of radiation certainly has ill effect on the health, while there is debate over the non-thermal effect.  According to Raman K R, “A person will fall prey to a thermal effect due to radiation only if he is close to the tower. Being exposed to the thermal effect could cause fatigue, cataracts and reduced mental concentration. This largely occurs to the amount of heat that is generated due to radiation.”

A Report on Fact finding trip to Vasant Kunj by Legal Aid Society

Based on an article published in 'The Hindu' on the issue of the establishment of a mobile tower near Bloom Valley School in Vasant Kunj, a group of volunteer from the environment and RTI subgroups of the Legal Aid Society went on a fact finding trip to Vasant Kunj. As per the directives of the World Health Organization, establishing mobile towers in the vicinity of schools, hospitals and residential areas is prohibited as it is established that the radiation from these towers adversely effects physical and mental health of human beings. A mobile tower has been set up near the school which would effect the children who would be more susceptible to such harm.  The volunteer

Report on Movie Screening "MATRUBHOOMI"

On 29th September 2011, screening of the movie “MATRUBHOOMI” was held in Seminar Hall of Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi by the members of the Gender Sensitization Sub-Group, Legal Aid Society.

The present ordinance is based on the Policy against Sexual Harassment by the University and of Delhi seeks to maintain and create an academic and work environment free of sexual harassment for students, academic and non-teaching staff of the  University of  Delhi. The ordinance will also apply to outsiders and residents, on the University of Delhi campus, to the extent specified herein these rule and procedures.

Workshop on Child Deliquency: Law and Practice in India

The Legal Aid Society of Campus Law Centre in collaboration with Students for Human Rights organized a workshop on Juvenile Delinquency- Law and Practise in India. The speakers on the occasion were Anant Asthana  and Swetlana Correya from Human Rights Law Network and Rohan Alva from the Juvenile Justice Board. Ms. Smriti Minocha and Renuka Srinivasan from HRLN had also come for the workshop.

Joint Action Plan of Legal Aid Society in association with CRY (Child Rights and You)

On September 22, 2011, Ms. Leena Prasad from CRY (Child Rights and You), along with two volunteers, Anushree and Richa, who are also members of CLC Legal Aid Society, came down to Faculty of Law and had a discussion with Dr. Raman Mittal, regarding joint effort of Legal Aid Society and CRY, for promotion of Child rights and on conduction of a workshop on Right to Education.
